Preschool
Our preschool program is designed for children who will start school after approximately one year. Classes follow a curriculum which can be compared to the Cambridge Curriculum. The children are in a school-like atmosphere for the first time. Therefore, it is essential that they enjoy attending the preschool program. Developing a positive attitude towards learning in general is one of the preschool’s main goals. To achieve this goal, the groups are smaller than in almost any school or kindergarten you will find in Germany (appr.5 kids per group).
Classes are held in English. We focus on letters (reading & writing) and numbers (1-20). We teach using the books “Total Reading” and “Total Math” In addition, the teacher chooses from a variety of materials according to what s/he considers to be best for the individual children in the group.
Our preschool teacher for reading, writing and math is Christine Sperling. Her classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are Science Days. This area is covered by Sarah-Jane Bried and her assistants.
The preschool program was originally designed for children who will later attend an American or English school. However, it is also recommended for children who are to attend a German school as all classes are held in English and will therefore not interfere with the curriculum of a German elementary school.
